Tourism London Announces Neighbourhood Video Project

(London, ON) Tourism London is proud to present the first pilot video in a series that will profile London’s neighbourhoods, focusing on the people, unique businesses and culture that make up the city.   The campaign, which will include short videos, photography and encourage user generated content is directed toward a younger generation of traveller.  

The first video profiles the Old East Village and features the Western Fair Farmers Market, Illbury & Goose, the UnLondon Digital Media Association, the London Brewing Co-op and Manson Tattoo among others. The video is produced by Life of Leisure, a unique London lifestyle brand and boutique creative house that had a desire to get to know their city better.
Mitch Taylor and the Life of Leisure team, saw an opportunity to tell a story about the individuals who make this city tick.   Life of Leisure is currently completing a second video profiling Wortley Village that will be released early in 2017.     “There is a long history of innovative and dynamic businesses finding their home in The Old East Village.  Area shoppers describe the commercial corridor as abundant with creative small businesses who offer music, theatre, local culinary flavour and handmade artisanal products.  The faces and stories in the Life of Leisure video represent a slice of what the area has to offer and highlights the impressive entrepreneurial spirit that has always exemplified London’s Old East Village,” said Jennifer Pastorius, Manager of the Old East Village BIA.

“The videos along with other related media captures aspects of London that will resonate with travellers, who increasingly seek unique travel options off the beaten path and find them using different platforms than traditional leisure travellers,” said Chris Campbell, Director of Culture and Entertainment Tourism.

Well connected to social media platforms, Millennials’ love to use technology in their travels. Nearly half (49%) search for travel information on their smartphones. While 87% of Millennials use Facebook for travel inspiration, over 50% use Twitter and Pinterest.

The video series, will be featured on Tourism London’s social media platforms, as well as www.LondonisOn.com and www.LondonTourism.ca.
